The 1-2-3 Steps To Making Money Online!
"By failing to prepare, you are
preparing to fail."
Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)
Starting a new e-business
can be very daunting. I know I started one over 4 years ago But lets
look at it in an easy step-by-step outline.
The first thing you need to
do is ask yourself, ‘Self, am I really interested in taking the time,
and more importantly, money, to build a business on the Internet?
You really should understand
that anything worth achieving comes with a price tag. I don’t mean to
discourage your efforts, just the opposite, with more people joining,
competing and participating in this great new frontier of e-commerce,
will make it a more robust and financially rewarding industry for
everyone.
OK, so you are willing to
spend the necessary hours per week and $100’s, if not $1,000’s to
build a SUCCESSFUL, LUCRATIVE e-business. Many are willing to
spend the time, but not the money and look to do it without spending
anything ;-)
(You can almost start making
some money with no investment, but it will be short-lived).
1. You
need to decide what you would like to sell. Yes, sell. I know it is
a dirty word to many of you, however you can’t make any money without
selling something. Find an interest you have, something that you feel
passionate about…music, teaching, fashion, stocks, cars, and
collectibles…
Do a search to find the
supply/demand. Go to AltaVista.com, Google.com or another search engine
and search for the word or words of your intended products (s). Say you
are interested in setting up a music store. There are 7,899,289 pages
found for music stores (these are real numbers). There were 12094
searches done for music store in Jan. Now do you think you will be
profitable with a music store?
Unlikely - too much
competition. You need to brainstorm a ‘niche’. Find keywords that
are related to music stores but aren’t so general…say, musical
instruments that were searched for 40,287 times and have 2,737,317 pages
found at AltaVista.com. This is a better concept, not great though. It
has a lot of demand, but competition too.
So, if you were to narrow it
even further, to say, brass musical instruments, you would find that
there were 214 searches and 1,103,327 pages found. Maybe a profitable
site, but if you combine this keyword with other related keywords that
have decent supply and not too much competition, voila! you have the
beginnings of a profitable web biz.
OK, now you have a site
concept, you need to get a domain name. Not an unimportant task either.
Luckily, the cost of domain names has fallen dramatically…don’t you
love the free enterprise system?
I recently bought a domain
name, http//www.ebooks-n-ezines.net
for under $10 for one year! (site not finished). The last one I bought
cost $70 for two years. There are loads of reputable sites registering
names.
2. You
need to have a web host your web site. There are many hosts out
there for as little as $20-25/mo. but the one I recommend is Host4Profit.
They will register your domain name and host it too. They throw in
instant businesses ready to start promoting. In fact, you could start
making enough money with them to invest in your other web site concept.
Included is the warrior forum that has 30,000 members and offer
incredible support and marketing information. The best thing about Host4Profit
is that if you get only three others to join, your hosting is
paid for!
3. The
next step is to find related affiliate programs to your site concept…types
of musical instruments. At http//www.associate it.com, http//www.cashpile.com
or http//www.refer-it.com they list affiliate programs and rate
some of them. You should go to each potential affiliate program and
check it out. See if it is something that you would want to be
associated with. Check out their links as well, they might lead to other
potential partners of your new business. There are about 12 web site’s
that list, review and/or rate affiliate programs. Do a search and you
will find them. Do a search at each of the affiliate directories to find
appropriate, quality affiliate programs.
